We love telling the tale of Waves Campground!
It all started in September 2015 when the campground – formerly known as Delicate Nobby Campground – changed ownership and management. With this change came a new name: Waves Campground.
At Waves we aim to provide comfortable, friendly and affordable camping with professional and great customer service from people who really care for what they do.
You can find the campground on the spectacular Mid North Coast of NSW, between Goolawah National Park and Limeburners Creek Nature Reserve. Just across the road there are magnificent beaches with squeaky sand and gorgeous blue bays for surfing, fishing, snorkelling and long walks. Our beautiful trees and bush give privacy and shade to campsites and the wildlife here is amazing. We try to keep the exciting flora and fauna around us as natural as we can and are especially proud of the abundant birdlife.
The international team of volunteers and permanent staff at Waves actively maintain, improve and clean the campground. Most crew members checked in as guests and enjoyed the place so much, they didn’t want to leave. Others have come through HelpX where we exchange a few hours of light work for food and accommodation. The energetic, competent and happy crew makes for a warm welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere during your holiday experience. Richard is an experienced world traveler, taking 7 years to go all all around the world. Spending winter seasons snowboarding in Europe, road tripping the US in a kombi and watching the sunset at Machu Pichu, he’s done it all.
He is also the owner of the much loved and successful Ozzie Pozzie YHA in Port Macquarie. Rich loves surfing and is stoked to be able to offer you a great Australian bush camping experience.
Born in England, Kit now calls Australia home. He is an experienced surf instructor and qualified mathematics teacher. Kit feels lucky to be in this position and aims for all guests to have a superb stay!
Born in The Netherlands, Anna is loving life in Cresso. She’s a communication & marketing professional and happily shares the daily excitement on our social media. She is also our staffing manager and energetically guides our Waves Crew.
Local legend ALINE Monteiro has been a backbone to Waves since 2020. She brings a fresh, French, fiery drive to the team and a great sense of humor.
Aline is originally French, but grew up in Africa and it’s been 2 decades since she made the move to Crescent Head with her whole family. She’s got two wonderful daughters who immediately became part of the Waves family as well.
