Hot showers, café, laundry, barbecues, surf equipment and more..
At Waves Campground you will be camping in beautiful, untouched and natural surroundings, whilst enjoying the comfort of quality amenities. The campground is kept as natural as possible and it won’t take long before you encounter some wildlife. Goannas, possums, kangaroos, and many native bird species feel right at home here with us. Our amenity building provides campers with clean (flush) toilets, hot showers and laundry & washing up facilities.
Our on site café Surf Fuel by the catering company Fronds Food is open during our peak season (roughly September to April). They serve barista made coffees, high energy, healthy breakfast and lunch dishes from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm everyday and delicious streetfood diners from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday and Saturdays. The café is run by Scott & Katie and they have made it their mission to find the best local products and are proud to serve their house-smoked meats to our guests. In line with our environmentally conscious approach to the campground the café sources compostable and recyclable materials to work with.
Most of our campsites have a picnic table and fire pit provided. We allow ground fires and it is no problem if you want to bring your own stove or fire pit. All fires have to be sensible and are subject to total fire bans. There is also a large, sheltered Bush Kitchen with picnic tables, an electric hot plate cooker and electric, gas and woodfire barbecues. All campers are free to use the barbecues, but we do not supply gas or wood. The water in the Bush Kitchen is bore water, please note that this water needs treatment or to be boiled before drinking. However there are (free) rain water taps in front of the amenities and we sell bottled drinking water or UV filtered water refills at reception. The campground office and shop hours are (roughly) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every day. In the shop we sell cold drinks, ice creams, snacks, toiletries, essential dry food and camping supplies such as ice, firewood and butane gas. Please note that we do not provide swap and go gas bottles and don’t sell any perishable items. In the surf shop guests can borrow wetsuits, body boards and surfboards suitable for all ability levels, we ask a small maintenance fee. We also sell surf equipment such as boards, fins, wax and leg ropes. If you are looking for any advice or guidance on surfing in general or the best spots in our area, please talk to our very experienced and surf crazy staff.
Besides camping it is possible to stay with us in our Bunkhouse. The Bunkhouse can provide up to 62 people with dormitory style accommodation. Next to the Bunkhouse is a separate Bush Kitchen and large social area. This Bush Kitchen is for the use of our Bunkhouse guests only and setup to cater for up to 70 people including all the cooking equipment and utensils. We can easily cater for large groups, including school groups or surf camps, whether you would like to come camping or sleep in the Bunkhouse.
